Stop sharing personal information and materials on social media

The ICT coordinator, Madam Nora Nsampana, of the Adoagyiry Municipal Education Directorate, has advised girls to refrain from sharing information and materials on social media. The importance of being cautious in online interactions to protect privacy, not miss valuable opportunities due to inappropriate posts, and avoid risks, she added.

The coordinator said this during the Ezer Foundation’s commemoration of international Girls Day at the St Martins Senior High school in the Nsawam municipality. According to her, some social media users engage in cyber bullying and threat.
She also urged them to as a matter of urgency report any instances of online harassment to their school authorities or their parents to protect them from bullying and threat.

The theme for this year, “Girls Vision for the Future” focuses on empowering girls, amplifying their voices and advocating for strategies and policies that ensure a better future for them.
The United Nations observes October 11 as the international Day of the Girl child to highlight girls rights and the unique challenges they face. The Director of Operations at Ezer Foundation, Mr Victor Armah Attoh, for his part said the commemoration aimed to empower the girls to pursue their dreams and goals for future. He said the Day aims to draw attention to the challenge girls encounter and to promote their empowerment and the realization of their human rights.
He continued that “we are creating a multi tensional approach, we look at children’s educational, medical psychosocial and spiritual well being. These four dimensions help children to grow and unleash their potential. As part of their health and hygiene project the foundation also donated 120 hand sanitizers and 30 liquid soaps to the schools.
The schools participated were Adoagyiri Methodist Basic school, Adoagyiri R/C JHS, St Martins, Albadar Islamic Basic school, A nearby Junior High schools ,Presby Basic school, and Al-Rajhi lslamic basic school.
He also stressed the need for them to be aware of the potential dangers of social media to enable them to navigate the online world safely.
