West Africa’s healthcare and pharmaceutical industry opens its biggest regional marketplace Sunday as the 5th West Africa Pharma and Healthcare Expo begins at the Kofi Ohene-Konadu Auditorium, University of Professional Studies, Accra.

The three-day exhibition, running through 10 June, is organised with Astrovision Global FZCO of Dubai and India’s ACE Group. This year’s theme, “Advancing Healthcare. Connecting Africa”, positions the event as a platform to reposition the region’s health economy through partnerships, technology and local manufacturing.

More than 100 exhibitors from India, Turkey, USA, Egypt, Italy, Ghana and other markets will display medicines, medical devices, laboratory equipment, diagnostics and hospital supplies. Organisers expect 4,000-5,000 trade visitors including hospital administrators, pharmacists, distributors, regulators and investors from Ghana and across West Africa.

Ace Group CEO Praveen Singh said Ghana’s expanding hospital infrastructure and rising demand for quality medicines make it one of West Africa’s most dynamic healthcare markets. “The sector remains one of the most promising not only in Ghana but across the entire West African region,” he stated at the launch, noting high import volumes create scope for technology transfer and local production.

A Healthcare Conference will run alongside the exhibition, focusing on pharmaceutical development, artificial intelligence in diagnostics, digital health transformation, health system strengthening, and integration of herbal and traditional medicine. Panels will also examine regional investment opportunities as countries push for medicine security and supply chain resilience.

Launched in 2022, the expo has grown from a small team with a “big dream” into West Africa’s largest hospital, medical and pharma fair. Industry players say this year’s edition comes at a pivotal moment, with governments seeking innovation in e-pharmacies, telemedicine and AI-driven diagnostics to bridge infrastructure gaps.

The event runs daily from 8-10 June 2026 at UPSA, Accra.
