Achimota School is set for a major infrastructure upgrade after Saka Homes pledged GH¢18.7 million to build a modern dormitory block for the institution.

The real estate developer announced the commitment this week, saying the project will address growing pressure on student housing at the 98-year-old school. Enrollment has climbed steadily, leaving existing hostels overstretched.
According to details published by Graphic Online, the new facility will add significant bed capacity and is designed to meet current standards for student welfare and safety. Work is expected to commence once final approvals are secured.
Headmistress and school management described the intervention as “timely and transformational,” noting that improved boarding conditions directly impact academic performance and student wellbeing.
For Saka Homes, the project marks a deeper push into education-focused CSR.
The company said investing in school infrastructure is part of its long-term strategy to support Ghana’s future workforce.
Achimota has historically relied on alumni and private donors to supplement government funding for infrastructure.
This latest pledge adds to a growing list of private sector contributions aimed at keeping the school’s facilities competitive.
