The Sustainable Youth Development Network (SYND), in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), has launched a bold new campaign aimed at placing Ghanaian youth at the centre of sustainable development and economic transformation.
The campaign, dubbed the SYND Gen Z and IFC Campaign, was officially launched on Tuesday at No. 17 Naa Afiyie Okropong Close, Achimota, behind Neoplan Ghana Limited, in Accra.
The event attracted youth activists, climate advocates, development partners, private sector actors and representatives from youth-led organisations, all united by a shared commitment to amplify youth voices.
The initiative is designed to harness the creativity, digital savviness, and activism of Generation Z to address some of the country’s most pressing challenges, including climate change, unemployment, and limited access to opportunities for innovation.
Addressing participants at the launch, organisers explained that the campaign would focus on three key pillars: capacity building, advocacy, and access to finance. Under the programme, young people will be trained in green entrepreneurship, digital skills, and climate leadership, while also being given platforms to engage policymakers and industry leaders.
The partnership with IFC is expected to bridge the gap between youth innovation and investment by connecting promising youth-led ideas to funding, mentorship and market opportunities.
According to SYND, the campaign responds to the growing need to involve young people meaningfully in decision-making processes that affect their future, particularly in the areas of climate justice and sustainable jobs.
The organisers noted that Gen Z represents a powerful force for change, and with the right support and collaboration, they could lead Ghana’s transition to a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
The campaign will be rolled out through a series of community engagements, innovation challenges, dialogues and digital activations across the country in the coming months.
Participants at the launch expressed optimism about the initiative, describing it as timely and crucial for unlocking the potential of Ghana’s youthful population.
The SYND Gen Z and IFC Campaign is expected to complement existing national youth development strategies and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
