Sampa community leaders have issued a stark warning about rising violence and eroding faith in state institutions, urging the President to enforce equal application of the law to prevent another tragedy like Bawku.
In a statement linked to Nana Gyaflaa II, an Appeals Court judge and chief, the community emphasizes that while legal remedies, mediation and patience have been pursued, restraint cannot substitute for justice when gazettes and court injunctions are ignored.
The leaders recall a presidential remark that government works only with gazetted chiefs, and they respectfully ask that this principle guide action in Sampa, demanding the law remain firm regardless of geography or influence.
Disregard for legal processes causes ordinary people to lose faith in protective institutions, breeding desperation and setting the stage for conflict.
Describing Sampa as showing early signs of becoming another Bawku, they highlight Ghana’s painful history of prolonged conflicts that drain resources and cause national bleeding—situations where prevention is cheaper than repair.
They appeal to the President, as Commander‑in‑Chief, noting every life in Sampa is under constitutional protection; mothers fear for their sons, traders fear investment, and youth fear violence, creating an atmosphere heavy with uncertainty because early warnings were ignored.
The community seeks protection, not special treatment or confrontation, urging the state to apply the law equally and restore confidence in REGSEC and DISEC, whose credibility has eroded.
Their message is to prevent further tension and tragedy through strict legal enforcement and safeguard security deployments without inflaming situations.
