UK-based Ghanaian Barbara Kodua wanted, Techiman nurse in custody as CID traces big money transfers.
The Criminal Investigations Department has uncovered what it calls a coordinated, funded network behind the viral TikTok account known as ‘Ghana Jollof’.
According to the police, the account which has become notorious for alarming and insulting videos is owned and operated by Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, a Ghanaian currently based in the United Kingdom.
Speaking to the press in Accra on September 18, the CID Director-General, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, announced that Barbara has been declared wanted for publishing content that threatens national security.

Central to the local operation is Salomey Awity Baffoe, a nurse at Techiman, who is now in police custody.
COP Donkor said Salomey was not just sharing videos. Police investigations established that she actively recruited other individuals to systematically redistribute Ghana Jollof’s contents across social media platforms.
Her phone, when subjected to forensic examination, allegedly exposed the entire operation.
“Highly Influential Persons” fingered
In what is perhaps the most damning revelation, the police said mobile money records show huge sums of money moving between Salomey, Barbara, and several high-profile individuals in Ghana.
“Highly influential persons in society have transferred significant sums of money to the suspect Mrs Baffoe, who in turn shares the money with Ghana Jollof,” COP Donkor stated.
Investigators believe Salomey served as the financial conduit – receiving money from big men and women in Ghana and forwarding it to Barbara, while also receiving funds from Barbara to pay local distributors.
The CID says it knows all those who sent money, based on the phone data, but will not publish names yet.
Why police moved
COP Donkor disclosed that police had been quietly monitoring the Ghana Jollof accounts for months. The content, she said, had crossed from political commentary into false news and incitement capable of causing fear and alarm.
She cited a specific video where Barbara alleged that a near coup d’etat had taken place at the Jubilee House.
“Over a period of time, Barbara Asantewaa Kodua has used her social media platform to produce and publish videos containing offensive and inciting statements with the potential to provoke violence,” COP Donkor said.
The case is being investigated as publication of false news, offensive conduct and incitement, and more arrests are expected.
