From Friday, August 1, 2026, Ghanaians will be able to access Ghana Card services through a new dedicated facility as the National Identification Authority (NIA) launches its Prestige Centre in Accra.
The Authority says the centre is meant to offer priority service, reduce wait times, and take pressure off busy district offices across the country.
Faster Service For Those Who Need It
The Prestige Centre will handle the full range of Ghana Card transactions new registration, updates, corrections, and card replacement under a fast-track system.
NIA officials say the facility will also operate extended hours and provide a more structured client experience with dedicated desks and shorter queues.
Importantly, the Authority clarified that this does not end free services. All existing NIA district and regional offices will continue to register and issue cards to the public at no cost.
“The goal is simple: give people an option for speed and convenience without disrupting what we already do,” a senior NIA official explained.
Why Now
Demand for the Ghana Card has surged in recent months as more institutions make it a requirement for banking, SIM registration, and government services. That has led to overcrowding at many centres.
The Prestige Centre is part of NIA’s plan to separate premium, time-sensitive requests from walk-in services, so both groups can be served better.
Full details on location, booking process and service fees will be announced at the official opening on August 1.
