Ekumfi Essuehyia in the Ekumfi District of the Central Region came alive on Saturday as chiefs and people marked this year’s Akwanbo festival with a call on citizens to clear both physical and spiritual paths hindering development.
The festival, which literally means path-clearing, reenacts the historic migration of the Borbor Mfantse people from Techiman through Mankessim to their present settlement around Essuehyia.
The durbar was graced by the Founder and Spiritual Leader of Asomdwee Ntontom Som, Okronkronyi Nyame Somafo Yawoh, popularly known as Osomafo, who organized a special spiritual outreach as part of the celebration.
Akwanbo Re-lived
As custom demands, various Asafo companies cleared overgrown footpaths leading to farms, streams and ancestral shrines, while traditional priests poured libation to thank ancestors for protection and bumper harvest.
The colourful durbar featured drumming, dancing, firing of musketry and display of rich Ekumfi culture.
Message of Peace
Addressing the gathering, Osomafo said Asomdwee Ntontom, meaning “Threads of Peace”, was organized to weave unity, discipline and spiritual consciousness into Ghanaian society.
“The voice of God does not shout; it whispers into the soul of the one who is willing to listen. My calling was not about building a church; it was about restoring peace to hearts,” he stated.
He added: “Peace is not the absence of noise; it is the presence of God in your conscience.”
Call For Donation And Invitation
The Spiritual leader used the occasion to urge individuals, philanthropists and natives of Ekumfi both home and abroad to donate to his ministry to support youth mentorship, community outreach and expansion of Asomdwee Ntontom branches.
The Osomafo also urged people to go to his ministry if the person wants spiritual help, peace of mind, divine direction and moral renewal.
According to him, the ministry has branches in Accra, Mankessim, Essuehyia, Koforidua, Ashaiman, Ho and Denu, and welcomes all seeking divine clarity.
Nana Okesse Essandoh IX, Omanhene of Ekumfi Traditional Area, thanked Osomafo for his prayers for peace and unity in Ekumfiman and Ghana as a whole.
