Kick for Water, an initiative to help promote access to a portable and safe drinking water through soccer and entertainment, was launched.
launched by kick 4 street foundation, a non governmental organisation, also seeks to promote clean water or vulnerable communities across the country.
Mr Charles Adu,the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Kick 4 street Foundation said that to safeguard this right,everyone needed to work together collectively in order to ensure water bodies were safe and clean while make a water available to waterlogged communities.
Mr Adu stated that to make sure all communities had equal opportunities, the organisation was collaborating with Ghana Association of Elected Assembly members to deal with issue related to water quality and availability.
The Association thought it was to use football and entertainment to raise funds to provide clean water to various communities in the country since illegal mining has destroyed 90 percent of our water bodies, he stated.
Through Kick for water and then the Regional film festival, we aim to promote sustainable practices, raise awareness about climate change and inspire individuals to take action, the CEO continued.
Mr Adu continued that accessing clean water was a fundamental human right to every citizen living in the country.
The CEO said, through these entertainment and soccer it would also help promote the country’s tourism, culture and heritage.
He appealed to the government, corporate bodies, individuals, philanthropies to as a mater of urgency to donate and support the Kick for Water project to make water clean and accessible for all.
The Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru 11 who represented by the Paramount chief of Abola traditional Area, Nii Ahene Nunoo 111,for his part emphasized the importance of clean water to human life.
