Baaba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, has emerged victorious in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary in the Ayawaso East Constituency.
He secured 431 votes, beating other contenders Mohammed Ramne (88 votes), Hajia Amina Adam (399 votes), Dr Yakubu Azimdow (45 votes), and Najib Sani (1 vote).
The election was held amid allegations of vote-buying and bribery, prompting the NDC’s national leadership to launch an investigation.
The party has vowed to take disciplinary action against any candidate found guilty.
Baba Jamal’s win positions him as the NDC’s candidate for the March 3 by-election, a crucial contest in the Greater Accra Region.
The NDC aims to retain the seat, and the party has reiterated its commitment to upholding electoral integrity.
