Accra – Businesswoman and NPP financier, Hajia Ruka Saida Ahmed, has filed her nomination to contest the National Treasurer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the party’s National Delegates Conference on October 3 in Kumasi.
After filing at the party headquarters, Hajia Ahmed told journalists that her decision is driven by years of sacrifice and loyalty to the party.
“I have been a supporter from town to town, from polling station to national campaign. I’ve been a member from way back. When you don’t have money, you give your life. You put your mind to it,” she said.
The importer, exporter and road contractor said she has long supported the NPP with her own resources and belongs to the party’s tradition.
She said if elected, she will leverage her private sector experience and connections to mobilize more resources and rebuild the party’s financial base ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“I will bring more resources to the party. I am connected. I have supported this party with my mother,” she stated.
Hajia Ahmed pledged to be a transparent and reliable steward of the party’s finances, promising to work in unity with the national leadership.
“As Treasurer, I will work hand in hand with the Chairman, the General Secretary and all the National Executives. Judging from the crowd today, I am not arrogant,” she added.
The National Treasurer race is expected to be keenly contested as the NPP seeks to retool its finances for the next elections.
