A flag-bearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong (KAA), says he represents the core values and principles that anchor the party’s formation, when he submitted his nomination forms to contest the January 31, 2026 presidential primary.

Mr Agyepong, therefore, called on the party’s delegates to choose wisely, looking out for “thinking leaders” with innovative ideas and a clear understanding of where they want to take the country.

He emphasised the need for unity and reconciliation within the party and the country, and called on all Ghanaians to work together to achieve a common goal.

He also pledged to implement a structured and coordinated urban planning and development system, utilising land and other resources to create personal wealth to facilitate economic growth.

Mr Agyei Agyepong said his vision for the country included a fiscally responsible and socially cohesive economy that provided opportunities for citizens to access quality education and healthcare, and restore meritocracy and professionalism in the workplace and society.

The civil engineer who once steered the party as General Secretary said he was in the flagbearership race to restore the party’s cherished values of service, sacrifice and sacrifice and selflessness.

His nomination forms were received by the Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Elections Committee, Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah, assisted by William Yamoah and Barbara Dennis, members of the committee.

He was accompanied by members of his campaign advisory board, chaired by a former Minister of Foreign Affairs under former President Kufuor’s administration, Akwasi Osei-Adjei; a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Suhum , Randsford. Agyapong, who is political advisor to Agyepong

Dressed in a white shirt, complemented by blends of the party’s other red and blue colours, Mr Agyepong walked side by side with his wife, Dr Lawrencia Agyepong, a senior lecturer at the University of Media, Arts and Communications, into the party headquarters, with a large following of his supporters, many of them on motorbikes, in tow.

He highlighted the country’s current challenges, including poor sanitation, illegal mining, high unemployment and chaotic urban planning.

Always a buoyant personality, eloquent in speech and strong in his beliefs, Mr Agyepong sought to appeal to the wider population of the youth beyond the grassroots of the party, referencing the high unemployment rate as an urgent national issue needing urgent solution.
