A new Chief Fisherman has been sworn into office at a ceremony held at James Town.

The swearing-in ceremony brought together fisherfolk, traditional leaders, opinion leaders and stakeholders in the fisheries sector to witness the transition of leadership.

The newly sworn-in Chief Fisherman took the oath of office and pledged to uphold the customs of the fishing profession, promote unity among fisherfolk and protect the marine resources that sustain coastal livelihoods.
The officiating authority charged him to lead with honesty, fairness and commitment to the welfare of fishermen and to work closely with relevant associations and state institutions for the development of the sector.
In his acceptance speech, the Chief Fisherman expressed gratitude to the fisherfolk for the confidence reposed in him and promised to be a servant leader.
He said his leadership will focus on promoting discipline at the landing beaches, ensuring compliance with sustainable fishing practices and advocating for improved livelihoods for fisherfolk.
He also called for unity and cooperation among fishermen to advance the progress of the fishing community.
Traditional leaders and members of the fisheries fraternity who attended the ceremony congratulated him and urged him to work to bring development and peace to the fishing community.
If you send the audio, I will insert the exact name of the Chief Fisherman, who swore him in, and his direct quotes immediately.
