More than 1,000 youth from 17 countries in West and Central Africa have gathered in Accra for the annual conference of Harakati ZA Muungano, calling for continental integration through constitutional reforms and peaceful policy change.
According to the Youth Organiser of Harakati ZA Muungano, Ghana Secretariat, Paulin Agbemelo Tsomafo , he said the movement organises the conference every year to deliberate on how to help Africa unite.
“The main objective is to promote the integration of Africa as a country. We don’t use brutal ways. We go through constitutional amendment,” he said.

Petitions To Advance Agenda 63
He explained that at the end of every conference, the group comes out with petitions that are presented to key institutions in the country.
This year, petitions will be sent to TUC, ICU ,Parliament, and AfCFTA. Later, the group will also petition media houses, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SSNIT, and the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and lndusry
According to him, the goal is to push Agenda 63 to remove physical barriers and borders, create jobs, and celebrate policies that promote unity.
Conference Focus
The conference brought together delegates from both Central and West Africa to discuss youth empowerment trade, and how to strengthen African cooperation
Follow-Up To Be Done
He added that a follow-up team will be set up to ensure that the requests presented in the petitions are secured by the institutions.
Organisers say this year’s meeting was one of the biggest yet, with participants from 17 neighboring countries.
