The National Identification Authority, NIA, has embarked on a public sensitization drive in Accra as part of its 20th anniversary celebration and International Identity Day.
The Authority on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, held a float along some principal streets of the capital to educate the public on its mandate and services.
The exercise started from the NIA head office at Shiashie, went through Accra Mall and ended at the University of Ghana Business School at Legon.
Along the route, NIA officials interacted with the public, providing information on where to access Ghana Card services and how much is charged at its district, premium and prestige centres.
At Legon, the team organized a special mass registration exercise, allowing members of the University community to register for the Ghana Card and rectify their records.
According to the NIA, the programme is to bring its services to the doorstep of Ghanaians and to emphasize the importance of having a legal identity.
The anniversary celebration is expected to end with an inter-agency sporting event at the Legon Sports Stadium on Saturday.
