The Ghana Chapter of the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare Global Alumni (KGA) has been making significant strides in strengthening healthcare in the country.
At the chapter’s Annual General Assembly, Dr. Ralf Armah, the National President of KGA, highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by the chapter, including medical outreaches, blood donation drives, and professional development events.
Healthcare Initiatives
The chapter has organized several healthcare initiatives, including:
- A blood donation exercise that sent blood to the regional hospital,
- Free clinical consultation at Jamestown and public awareness on clubfoot.
- An outreach clinic at Nsawam, where inmates underwent surgeries and eye screening
- A non-communicable disease campaign to promote wellness and health.
Partnership and Collaboration
The Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) has been supporting the Ghana KGA, providing opportunities for Ghanaian health professionals to participate in the Dr. Lee Jong-wook Fellowship Programming in the Republic of Korea.
The initiative aims to strengthen professional capacity and advance healthcare delivery in Ghana.
Commitment to Healthcare
Mr. Bomim Yang, Country Representative of KOFIH, expressed the organization’s commitment to supporting the Ghana KGA, stating that the fellowship is more than a training program – it’s a community that works together for a better health system in Ghana.
Future Plans
The chapter intends to identify flagship activities and scale them up across the country, building on the progress made so far.
The Annual General Assembly provides a platform for the chapter to share progress, exchange ideas, and elect new executives to steer the affairs of the Alumni Association.
