Five candidates have completed the ballot process for the Ayawaso East Constituency parliamentary by-election, scheduled for March 3, 2026.
The contestants, vying to occupy the vacant seat, have been assigned positions on the ballot paper, with Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leading the pack.
The other candidates include Ibrahim Iddrisu (Liberal Party of Ghana), Baba Ali Yussif (New Patriotic Party), Mohammed Umar Sanda (Independent), and David Kanor (Independent).
The seat became vacant after the death of NDC MP Mahama Naser Toure, with the Electoral Commission fixing the by-election date in accordance with Article 112 (5) of the 1992 Constitution.
