NARAWA company LTD petitions Security Agencies over concession invasion;cites GH₵100M LOSS

Narawa Company Limited is demanding immediate action from state security agencies over what it says is the unlawful occupation of its mining concession since August 12, 2026.

In a press statement dated October 14, 2026, issued in Accra by its Head of Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Doris Attoh, the company called on the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces, Minerals Commission and NAIMOS to evacuate all illegal occupants and restore its lawful boundaries.

According to the company, its concession is protected by a High Court provisional order sealed on February 19, 2026, which is being violated.

Narawa said it has recorded huge losses since the takeover. It said six excavators and gold concentrates worth about GHS100 million have been stolen, while plant infrastructure valued at over US$2 million has been destroyed.

It also claims about 13 groups, including foreign nationals, are currently engaged in illegal mining (galamsey) on the concession, contrary to Section 70 of the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703).

The company alleged that Mr. Alfred Mahama, brother of President John Dramani Mahama, told its Managing Director that he deployed the personnel occupying the site. It further alleged that one Ebenezer Attah Fynn is acting as field commander and representing CMS – Pro Industries Company Limited and A&A Industries and Construction Company Limited.

Narawa said it has reported the matter to corporate regulators and asked the military command to verify personnel seen on the field.

On environmental concerns, the company said because its management has been cut off from the site, it cannot undertake mitigation duties. It has therefore notified the Chief Inspector of Mines and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that liability for any environmental damage should rest with those failing to secure the site and those perpetrating the illegality.

It added that it has filed a suit at the High Court against all private individuals, corporate trespassers and complicit entities, including Mr. Alfred Mahama as a primary defendant, to recover damages for asset loss, business interruption and tortious interference.

The company commiserated with families affected by fatal violence on the concession and said it is collaborating with investigators following the arrest of three suspects.
